NEW KONKANI DRAMA IN KUWAIT.
Well–known Konkani Stage artiste, playwright and director Rafael de Majorda
after successfully staging two dramas in Kuwait first “Aliza” on 9th April
1999 in cooperation with Bombay Boys Club and the second “Aum Nokom Zalom”
on 26th April 2002 in cooperation with AVC – Video Cassettes of both the
tiatros are still on sale in the local Video Shop and in Goa as well - now
coming up with his third tiatro “TUKAI TENCH RAUTA’ which is going to be
staged on 25th April this year at 3.30 p.m., Hawallay Air-condition Hall,
next to American Academy School, behind Canary Restaurant, opp.Kuwait
University (Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital), 4th Ring Road, under RS
(Rafael/Sheela) productions. First time in the history of Konkani Tiatro the
most magnificent artistes from Goa and Kuwait will participate in this
tiatro. The visiting artistes according to Rafael are: Charming and
evergreen Felcy, Graceful Irene Vaz, pretty & charismatic Ana, the most
popular comedy duo on Konkani stage Laughing Machine comedian Jesus Antao &
comedian Sally and by heavy public demand one and only William de Curtorim
with all his new hit songs. From Kuwait only the topmost artistes are
selected namely Comedy Queen Querobina Carvalho, youthful Conchita Cardoso,
Marcus Vaz, Sylvester Vaz, Rosary Ferns, Sanny de Quepem, Laurent de Utorda,
Xavier Furtado, Baltazar Pontis, SPA and Rafael de Majorda. Rafael said this
show will depict eye-catching scenes, suspense thriller and Digital Dolby
sound from SPA Music Inc.
Rafael de Majorda is going to stage this tiatro in association with
“Curtorcares United – Kuwait” club. Curtorcares United is one of the
well-known Goan organizations in Kuwait involved in diverse fields, soccer
being their forte. Antonio Rebello one of the best ex Goan soccer players
donning the Indian colours for India XI innumerable times is the strong
supporter and member of Curtorcares which is headed by energetic social
worker president Salvador who is backed by the equally competent team of
members will spare no time and efforts to make this tiatro as most
successful as per my information. With their closeness with all the members
of Goan community and enjoying goodwill from all sections, Rafael said
Curtorcares will prove very competent to stage his tiatro.
Rafael de Majorda just fresh from Goa where he spent his short vacation in
selecting the best of the artistes for his show said it took him lot of
efforts to spot the right candidates for the right part and he had to see
innumerable tiatros to screen the selected tiatrists. During his brief
vacation in Goa, Rafael has given one special award to Trio King Anthony
Desouza at Margao Vidya Niketan Hall thru the hands of Micky Pacheco –
Tourism and Sports Minister. Since this is his third venture, Rafael vowed
to make it most memorable. In comedy, Rafael feels that the selected
comedians namely comedian Jesus and Sally are unique in their roles, they
are natural and serious in performing their comedy, this is the only duo in
Goa currently out beat all others. In Kuwait they are very much in demand
and that they are in demand was noticed from their superlative performances
they displayed during the last show Rafael said. About female artistes,
Rafael said the evergreen Felcy with her silky voice has no parallel on
Konkani stage. Maintaining her immaculate beautiful image she will play the
major female role of heroine supported by newcomer to Konkani stage and the
most beauteous spot so far on Konkani stage Ana Pereira from Agacaim who is
currently acting for Pascoal Rodrigues. Rafael said he found it very
difficult to rope her due to her very busy schedule in the new Konkani Film
of Bonifacio but due to his persuasive attitude he succeeded in booking her.
This will be her maiden appearance in Kuwait and as such he expect lot of
interest in her acting from the audience. Both she and Felcy will create
ripples in the hall due to their charming looks and attractive roles.
Ragarding Irene Vaz the graceful wife of hitman Sylvester, she too will play
a majestic role of which type she never did on Konkani stage. Asked to
elaborate, Rafael said it is all suspense. About William de Curtorim, Rafeal
de Majorda said that one of the main reasons for bringing William is heavy
pressure from the Kuwait audience who seek his presence on the stage more
and more. Besides, William at present is the only actor who is much in
demand than anyone else. He is the most sought after tiatrist because of
his hard-hitting political songs which are very much liked by the audience.
Further Rafeal said that William has assured him to render all the new hit
songs which will surely satisfy the tastes of the audience. As a matter of
interest William de Curtorim is having a very big number of audience here in
Kuwait as it is in Goa and since his village Club Curtorcares is the
backbone of staging this show, he will surely give a very good account of
himself.
Among the locals Rafael said the selected ones are the only artistes whom he
can rate as the best available. Among them the newly formed trio of
Rosary-Sylvester-Sanny are become the darlings of the audience. Their
decent trio songs are very much liked and admired by the people. They will
render a very good trio like the last time in December and each one of them
will render a solo to give a very good impression of their talents. Comedy
Queen Querobina Carvalho will perform comedy role along with visiting
comedians Jesus and Sally and all three of them will surely produce peals of
laughter in the hall. As per Rafael, Querobina will do justice for her
title as “comedy queen”. Young and youthful Conchita Cardoso will play her
attractive role too. Sylvester as usual will play the main role of a hero
while handsome Xavier who earlier won best actor award in Goa will play the
negative role in his usual manner, similar role he played last time in
Rafael’s show. He will be supported by Laurent who will as usual play one of
the major roles in this tiatro. Andrew who gave a very good impression of
his talent in the recently held one act play competition will also
participate in the play and as usual dazzle the crowd. Baltazar Pontis will
participate in singing and Rafael de Majorda will play a minor role in the
play but as director will control the entire proceedings.
Musical score for this tiatro will be provided by Shahu and his jolly boys.
