JAIN TEERTHANKAR OF KOTHAMBI: "Travelling through villages in Bicholim, Sattari, Sanguem, Quepem, Canacona and Pernem, I have witnessed the rich pre-Portuguese antiquity of our villages. From the small square Vrindavan on the pavement of the St Inez Church cemetery at Panaji to the serene image of a Jain Teerthankar at Kothambi in Bicholim taluka, Goa has a plethora of sculptures in their original places rather than in a museum because these sculptures give a distinct heritage character to these villagers. The Jain Teerthankar image at Kothambi, outside the Chandreshwar temple, speaks volumes about the fact that in ancient times Jainism had spread to Kothambi." (Prajal Sakhardande in Impressions-GT)

LIFE IN LITTLE PALACIOS OF GOA: "The coastal villages of Calangute and Candolim boast of a large number of old-style heritage houses. Standing almost serenely, more than 500 years after it was built, is the Proenca House tucked away near the busy Calangute market junction. It is not easy to miss this two-storied house, painted a bright yellow and rust. With its Hindu-style inner courtyard, this house pre-dates the Portuguese invasion. Magnificent frescos still adorn the walls of the first floor landing. There is even undocumented belief that the warrior king Shivaji once stayed at this house." (Casper D'Souza in Panorama-NT)
