Subject: March 8th Saturday March 8th is International Women's
Day...
And
you have a date!
FireHorse Films - India's pioneer 'women first' production company is
launching with a donor brunch in association with Indigo. We promise
you food, wine and women. Lots of women! Achievers... doers... and Fire
Horses!
Are you mad bad
and dangerous to know?
Then you're a
FireHorse!
According to the Chinese zodiac women born in a Fire Horse
year were headstrong, anarchistic and a danger to the social order. FireHorse
films seeks to celebrate such women, and to give them a platform for their work.
The production company is the baby of Venita Coelho and Deepti Datt.
Venita is a writer of commercial Hindi films. Her first film 'Chura Liya
Tumne' launches next month. She ran India's first writers co-operative -
'Kalamkari' and has her own production house for which she writes and
directs.
Deepti worked in music television as a producer and director.
She runs her own production company producing software for television and
is also the force behind AXiRVAAD - a gallery restaurant in Goa that has
developed into a center for experimenting with art and music. Both of
them shifted to Goa - and found themselves living down the road from each other.
FireHorse is the result of the synergy.
We will be launching with a project that is very special to us. It's
titled 'Forever Young'.
Project: Forever
Young
Did you know that Goa features as 'destination
of choice' on several pedophile websites?
Did you know that abuse has happened to children
as young as 12 months old?
Did you know that children are the easiest
victims of all?
Did you know that victims of abuse very often
blank out the memory and only begin to remember when they are ready to deal with
their trauma - and often that is late in life. Past thirty you might suddenly
begin to remember...
Did you wake up screaming from nightmares when
you were a child?
Are there things you're starting to
remember?
Are there monsters under your
bed?
FireHorse films will be producing a feature
film called 'Monsters Under the Bed'. It is written as
a commercial thriller - but is woven around the dark subject of pedophilia and
the sexual abuse of children. Using mass media it will seek to take us through a
journey of lost innocence.
It is a part of a larger awareness
project that will work with organisations in Goa and parents in Bombay
on the topic of sexual abuse.
Because every child deserves to sleep innocently at
night...
Because children deserve a childhood...
Because each of us deserves to be Forever
Young
Women First! But not only
women...
Where would we be without all the men who have been partners, soul mates,
and support systems? Sign up to be part of 'Friends of FireHorse' - and be
there.
