Dear friends and fellow Goanetters,
For the benefit of those who would be anxious to know the situation in Kuwait at present, I am pleased to post an official information from the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, which is self explanatory.
With kind regards to one and all,
Rabindra Pimenta Kuwait

Indian Embassy Message to Indian Community
There was a missile attack today early morning at 0145 hrs approx. in the Kuwait city. The Kuwaiti authorities have confirmed that it was a seer-sucker missile - antiship missile and had come from the northern direction. There was no loss of human life. However there was superficial damage to a shopping mall and two persons have reportedly been injured. We understand that counter measures have been initiated
to neutralize the future attacks.
Kuwait Airport continues to be open for civilian traffic and scheduled flights of Air-India and Indian Airlines have been operating. The Air India and the Indian Airlines have circulated new flight schedule
which is appended herewith. The Kuwait Airways have also issued new flight schedule. The Air India and Indian Airlines have also announced airfares which are as given below:
Air India
Mumbai/Delhi -KD-90/- one way; KD 135/-return.
South-India- KD100/- one way; KD 175/-return
Indian Airlines:
Ahmedabad - KD 100/- one way; KD 155 return.
Goa - KD 110 one way; KD 180 return.
South India - KD 100 one way; KD 175 return.
Taxes as applicable will be added to these fares.
(Majority of the airlines have imposed an additional insurance surcharge of US$25 one way and US$50/-. Air India and Indian Airlines, keeping in view their commitment to the Indian Community has not levied this Insurance Surcharge.)
Kuwait continues to be safe and secure and its residents, including the Indian community, remain relatively calm and are continuing with their normal activities. The Kuwaiti government has made elaborate arrangements for civil defence and has deployed additional security forces for the safety and protection of the residents of Kuwait. We would urge the Indian community in Kuwait to remain alert and follow carefully the instructions over Kuwait Television, Radio, and the media, relating to civil defence measures and facilities made available
by the Kuwaiti government. The situation at present does not warrant evacuation or any other special measures. However, should such a situation arise, necessary contingency plans are in place to meet all
exigencies in cooperation with the Government of Kuwait. We would urge all members of our community to remain calm and follow all instructions issued by he Civil Defence authorities and by other concerned Kuwaiti agencies to ensure their safety and protection
