Help! Goanet's growing popularity seems to be attracting a whole lot of postings from a number of readers. This is great in terms of enhanced participation, but it also puts additional pressure on the mailboxes of members. Any suggestions from other Goanetters on how we could best cope with this situation? Some suggestions from this end include: o Avoiding "I agree", "Great posting" type of messages which don't add much to the original posting, apart from voicing agreement over the same. If you agree, explain why. If you don't have much to explain, you probably aren't adding to the debate. o Making sure you trim down to the maximum the number of lines quoted from an earlier message. o Placing a voluntary restriction on the number of postings from any member on any particular day... So, if someone posts half-a-dozen posts on one day, only the best one or two could be selected for circulation. o Possibly shifting over to the Goanet-digest version for those find the mailbox load too heavy. The downside of this would mean that you would not be able to follow the debate as it unfolds, and thus miss out the chance from joining the debates. o Maybe Herman could think of setting up two separate lists, Goanet and Goanet-Select (or whatever), where the latter is a selected and edited version of the first. People interested in getting full details could check the URLs and visit the archives. But more volunteers are needed for this. Only some loud thinking on my part.
