Without pontificating on either side of the debate, it appears to me (if I'm reading it correctly) that the above comment smacks of misplaced intellectual elitism!
For the record, I do patronize WalMart for some of the items on my shopping list. Not a bad place to shop (don't know about wedding dresses!), for specific categories of products. :-)
