THEY DESTROYED MY DAUGHTER'S, FAMILY'S LIFE: RAPE VICTIM'S MUM: Ever since her daughter was brutally raped within the premises of the Fine Arts College on May 17, life has spiralled into an endless nightmare for the victim's mother. She hasn't slept the last ten nights; has been frenziedly shuttling between hospitals and police stations with a daughter who is still hounded by hallucinations and nightmares; and has not the energy to even call up her lawyer for an update on the case… "They have destroyed not only my daughter's life, but my entire family's", she says angrily, of the boys accused of the sexual abuse. GANG-RAPE MORE SERIOUS THAN MURDER, SAYS PP: The prosecution today termed the gang-rape alleged to have taken place at the Fine Arts college around 10 days ago as "more serious than murder", while the defense demolished the very claim of rape. The prosecution, represented by Public Prosecutor J C da Costa and the defense, represented by Advocate D Dhond on Wednesday argued on the bail applications filed in the Additional Sessions Court by Vishal Dhuri, (Taleigao), Roy Fernandes (Majorda), Norman Tagore Fernandes (Margao) and Audumbar Dhabolkar (Vagator) all accused of having been involved in the gang-rape of the 18 year old student. "NO ONE MUST FACE TRAUMA…": It isn't only her good looks that strike you. More her innocence and naivete, which makes it easy to understand how she could have so easily been taken advantage of. "She lives on a spiritual level and loves to paint," says her mother. But her innocence has been so horribly traumatised, that her mother and concerned friends fear the 18-year-old may never be the same again. "I wish they would feel that what they did to me was wrong, and it should not happen to anyone else," says the student from Goa Art College who was raped on the campus over a week ago. CPI FOR REPORT FROM WOMEN'S COMMISSION: The Goa unit of Communist Party of India has demanded that the Chief Minister should ask an independent report from State Commission for Women on the alleged gang-rape.
