MICKKY PUTS OFF PLANTS TO JOIN BJP: In a sudden turn of events, the flamboyant Benaulim MLA and Tourism Minister, Mickky Pacheco, has put of all plans indefinitely to join the BJP, just three days before the planned function next week. (WE-GT) SKYBUS PROTOTYPE: With the completion of the skybus prototype, the Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd is eagerly awaiting for a suitable date from the Prime Minister's office for the inauguration of the project. Rs.7 crore have been put into building the prototype at the Margao railway station. If the project gets through, Goa would be the first Sate to have such a project. The mode is considered to be cheaper and safer than the usual railway. Kochi and Goa are slated to be the first two cities to have skybus service. (H) GEOLOGICAL HISTORY OF GOA: Noted geologist and senior lecturer of Geology at the Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Prof Orlando A Fernandes, has carried out extensive field work at Palolem-Canacona, the location of one of the oldest rock formation of Goa, namely the Tondhjemite Gneiss. Goa has a rich and long human history but its geological record of the past is far more daunting. Here the oldest rock in India has been dated at 3.8 billion years. The rock is a thondhjemite gneiss from the Anmod ghat.
