Dhavlikar said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, New Delhi, had already approved the proposal since many accidents were reported on this stretch, the latest being the death of four family members. BOMB HOAX IN PANAJI: Security was beefed up in the city yesterday afternoon after the police control room received an anonymous call that a bomb had been planted somewhere in the city. However, the call turned out to be a hoax. (GT) ONE DIES OF DROWNING: One Bhimappa Durgappa Kattimani, 65, originally from Saundati, near Belgaum, and residing in Mapusa, died due to drowning a rivulet called Gothanicho Vhal near Karaswada. (GT) ONE SUCCUMBS IN GUIRIM COLLISION: Fatal road accidents took toll of one more commuter yesterday morning. The deceased has been identified as Badshah Shab, of Karnataka and resident of Karaswada, was riding a scooter, which in the process of overtaking, he rammed into an oncoming Mumbai-Goa bus. The pillion rider, Babosahab Wadgeri, the deceased's father-in-law, has been admitted to the Asilo hospital. (IANS report in NT) TOURISM: LOOKING BEYOND SUNNY BEACHES: The dates of the 16th public exposition of the holy relics of St Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa, have been announced. It would be the first in the 21st century and also the first after the commissioning of the Konkan railway route. This adds a new and favourable dimension to the exposition because now the pilgrims can reach Old Goa from every corner of India and beyond. The 2004 exposition has the capacity to attract a million pilgrims. The government of Goa could use the exposition as an international attraction for pilgrimage-based heritage tourism and showcase the state as a perfect model of communal harmony and a center of eco-spirituality.
