>From the above statement the author appears to be refering to a study conducted a few years back on the Siddis, a tribe that inhabit the western ghats complex in Karnataka. Since they look very "African", Anthropologists conducted a series of DNA tests and the tests confirmed the tribes own statements that they had settled in the Western Ghats after escaping the extremely cruel and harsh Portuguese slave trade. Sunith Velho Btw Juje Siddi the ex-Salgaocar FC goalkeeper is not African as he is commonly beleived to be, but is a member of this tribe. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
