Real world AKA Goa (India)? Are you suggesting that media manipulation doesn't happen in other parts of the globe? The US, Canada or every other of the diverse countries where Goanetters reside in? To my mind, amidst all the negative things we say about Goa, it struck me as really interesting that there was actually *someone from here* who was willing to stand up for the truth.... at the risk of showing the writer himself (Ben Antao, in this case) in an unflattering light! > the open. Gabe, what are you talking about? Are you aware of the level of critiquing of the Press that goes on in Goa? Journalists too have taken this up. The e-book at Mediaah.com is just one example (21 essays by 20 journalists). Even in the past, the Goa Union of Journalists (then much more pro-active than now) used to come out with an informal journal called, tongue-in-cheek, 'NewSpeak' (remember '1984'?) It's really disappointing to see people critique confidently without properly knowing the subject they're critiquing. We've seen the Goan cyberworld critique the media many times in the past -- mostly on points which are largely tangential, if at all relevant, to the issues the media needs to be critiqued on. -FN ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
