The South Goa Public Interest Action Group with jurisdiction in the entire South Goa Parliamentary Constituency and registered office at Margao invites your kind attention to the following for your immediate investigation and action. This month within a fortnight there have appeared several advertisments as "CORRIGENDUM" to the first advertisement released by the following Departments viz: Goa Housing Board, Department of Tourism, Executive Engineer Wks Div XIV (NH) PWD, Chief Electrical Engineer, Directorate of Art & Culture South Goa Planning Development Authority Executive Engineer Div III (Public Health Engineering) and Goa Tourism Development Corporation on the local dailies. Most of the "CORRIGENDUM" notices are issued well past a fortnight or even after a month and it could confuse those concerned with the advertisements. These type of notices have been appearing several times on almost all the dailies, which in our considered opinion is gross wastage of public funds. Surely you will agree that the concerned Government Officers need explain and be held acountable for such gross errors and lapses as the material change could be wilfully done to manipulate a tender or otherwise. Generally a " Classified Display" advertisement bearing a minimum size of 3 cms x 1 col and a maximum size 10 cms x 1col. costs approximately Rs.225 per col. cm on the leading local dailies in Goa One can well imagine the loss to the public exchequer owing to such negligence. We at SGPIAG would appreciate if you direct the Chief Secretary Government of Goa to ascertain the reasons for the same and have the same clarified in public interest. Incidentally also note that similar "CORRIGENDUM" advertisements are also committed by the Central Government institutions and seen on the national dailies. It therefore appears that this is a form of Government sponsored institutionalised form of corruption.
