We could have our first edition of this newsletter issued on the Feast of Our Patron of Goa "St. Francis Xavier" If you have any write-up that you wish to include in this newsletter please send it to me via e-mail latest by 20th November 2003 ( e-mail : [EMAIL PROTECTED] ) We Goans need to be proud that our Konkani language was included in the Eight Schedule of the Indian Constitution, when in 1992, the two houses of the Indian Parliament unanimously voted and approved an amendment, thus according our Konkani language national status. As Goans we also need to set good examples to the young ones and groom them to keep our culture, music, cuisine, history and above all our Konkani language alive. Our language is slowly being eroded, and if not checked soon enough will become extinct. We should also remind our community that they have a language of their own - Konkani, the Goan Identity, no matter what nationality we may possess or what languages we may know at least at home and in the community we should speak in Konkani. Let us therefore all stand united and be Proud to be a Goan" and talk our Konkani freely (sometimes broken as it may be). We could also send e-mails to one another in Konkani. Lets give it a try. No one is perfect. I don't know to write in Konkani but I make an earnest effort to do so. Please teach your children to at least to talk in Konkani and in years to come even they will proudly say - WE ARE PROUD TO BE A GOAN!.. Rene Barreto in the UK has been striving to get Goans the world over to re-establish cultural unity and foster a sense of solidarity among Konkani speaking people the world over. His dreams and ambitions have finally taken hold as his worldwide organizing and coordinating committees help him achieve these results. Goans of Pakistan. Lets keep this torch burning.
