�KONKANI EKVOTTACHI SANZ� the grand Konkani musical show organized by Youth Recreation Centre (Rising Stars) was as scheduled held on 27th of last month at Indian Arts Circle Funaitees. Instead of 4.00 p.m., the show started at 4.25. The hall was packed to capacity, I can rightly say over capacity; it was a rare occasion to see so many people attending a Konkani Show. The combination of Goans and Mangaloreans for this show proved to be very fruitful and encouraging proposing to have more of such shows. Both the communities first time ever in Kuwait in such a strong capacity joined together to bring about closeness amongst their members and as seen during the show the purpose has been largely fulfilled. Members of both the communities attending and participating in the show were very happy to see the outcome so nicely. Very many people attending the show started dreaming of more of such shows in the near future. It is the language that has made this unity possible and major credit for this should go to Mr. Lawry Pinto the president of YRC. Besides Lawry Pinto and his association YRC there are still more members of the community with their associations trying to bring about fusion of Goans and Mangaloreans and they have firmly helped Lawry Pinto and his association YRC in organizing this �Ekvottachi Sanz�. All of them deserve compliments for doing wonderful job.
The Grand Konkani Musical Show was compeered by Rosary Ferns (Goa) and Jovita Fernandes (Mangalore). The first item of the show started with opening chorus Viva-Re-Viva by Wilfy Rebimbus and his wife Meena where they were accompanied by a group of Goan and Mangalorean artistes, during this opening chorus all the visiting artistes were introduced to the audience. Then Lawry Pinto in his speech eulogized the good work of all who helped him in organizing this show. In a special way besides others he thanked Rosary Ferns script writer of the skit �Devachea Marank Avaz Na�, director of the show Fidelis Fernandes and John Paul Fernandes the main sponsor. Ekvottachi Sanz consisted of different items namely solos, duets, trios, group dances with songs and main Skit �Devachea Marank Avaz Na� which was nicely written and produced by Rosary Ferns. All the artistes who participated in this Skit played their roles well but special mention should be made to Mangalorean Celine Mendonca who at moment even brought tears into the eyes of the audience while playing the role of a humiliated widow. Rita Rose once again proved that she is still a force to reckon with while doing the role of a high profile daughter-in-law. Her majestic appearance brought an extra colour to the Skit. Her way of speaking was totally different from others, which reminded the sweet style of yesteryears tiatrists. Querobina Carvalho again proved to be smart enough while playing the role of an arrogant mother-in-law though at one moment she goofed by leaving the stage blaming the failure of mike system. Both the Mangaloreans Johny Suratkal and Lancy Rodrigues contributed well. Sylvester Vaz as usual did his part well and showed his dazzling power during the finale of the Skit.
The comedy roles played by Prince Jacob and Humbert was excellent and hilarious. Never ever before I saw them playing such a fantastic comedy especially during the final stages of the comedy skits. Comedy supreme Humbert was at his best. They were ably supported in their comedy by yet another good comedian C. D�Silva playing the role of an aged woman though at particular moment his action of depicting his legs and thighs of course to the embarrassment of the decent crowd created an unpalatable effect.
Amongst the songs Rosary Ferns in his solo on Alfred Rose created a very good impact of his singing and composing capacity while his trio on Mahatma Gandhi �Bapuji� proved to be the best item of the day. Such songs should be rendered in Goa where the name of Bapuji is molested and commercialized by the crook politicians. Rarely one can hear such an excellent song amongst us. Once again Rosary Ferns proved to be the best artiste of Konkani Stage in Kuwait.
Rosary Ferns earlier introduced to the applauding of the hall packed audience Rita Rose who in her brief speech thanked the audience for showing so much of love for her and for her late husband. In a special way she thanked all the people who showed their concern for her late husband while he was sick and later on for sending condolence messages. While concluding she said she came to Kuwait to participate in this show to honour her promise that she made some months back, to keep up the given promise was the principle of her husband. One minute silence was also observed in the hall for Alfred Rose.
C. D�Silva rendered a decent solo in praise of Kuwait Konknni Kendr & Konkani Heritage Kuwait for their excellent work in the service of Konkani and YRC too for organizing this show blending two communities. Prince Jacob rendered a solo in praise of Goan priests and a trio with Humbert and Querobina �Susegad Goemkar�. Marcus rendered two solos, one decent and the other comedy for which he was called twice. Michael D�Silva was also called twice for his comedy solo. Sylvester Vaz rendered his solo on national integration while Lancy Rodrigues on mixture of Konkani and English �Konglish�, Rita Rose a solo �Noxibak Mojea Roddttam�. In his mellifluent voice Sanny de Quepem praised women in a nicely composed solo. Roney de Cunha�s romantic solo on �Jasmina� was well applauded by the audience so also his trio with Lancy and Vishvas on �Konknni Kolakar�. Joylene rendered her solo on �Chondrima� and Querobina Carvalho with her normal ease on �Bible� while Wilfy and Meena a duet on the power of money �Duddu-Duddu�. Wilfy�s solo on �Konkani Bhas� was very meaningful. All the items of Wilfy, his wife Meena and their son Vishvas were well received by the audience. Vishvas has excellent gift of singing, his handsome looks and serene appearance creates special attraction in him. This is the first time very many of the Goans had the privilege to watch Wilfy & his family performing so well. The dancing items by children and adults have delighted the audience even though here and there one could easily notice non-Konkani flavour.
Earlier two Audio Cassettes were released, one of Querobina Carvalho�s �Tragedy Queen� thru the hands of KHK President Fidelis Fernandes and the other of Prince Jacob�s �Padre Agnel Mannik Goemchem� thru the hands of Wilfy Rebimbus.
