I am sad to inform you that Galdino DeSouza, a fellow
villager in Socorro, Goa, died peacfully yesterday
morning(7th December) at the age of 81.
Galdino took up painting after he retired and came to
Goa, and his paintings have been distributed widely
both in Goa and other countries. He also exhibited
his paintings at the Kala Academy in Goa, and the
Goan Heritage Exhibition at Fontainhas, Panjim earlier
this year.
His specialty was the painting of our native clay
pots.
He painted still life pictures of pots of various
shapes and colors in various positions and lighting.
A slight un-assumimng person, Galdino had many
friends,
and was widely known. He took long walks every day
through the village, and I sometimes joined him on his
walks. He was very active till the morning of his
demise. The funeral will take place on Monday,
December 8 at 10:30 a.m. at our Lady of Socorro Church
in Socorro, Bardez, Goa.
