The President of India Dr. A. P.J. Abdul Kalam will be definitely disappointed that
the State authorities have directed Sharada Mandir school at Miramar to stay closed
for a day on 13th Jan
to avoid any inconvenience to the President's entourage which will be passing through
Miramar.

The President's visit to Goa is focussed around children and it is an irony that 1800
children are being putting to hardship of having to miss their classes just because
the President is visiting Goa.
Ideally the students should have had the opportunity to catch a glimpse of India's
famous 'Scientist' President, by waving flags as he drives by their school. If
schools are kept close every time a V.I.P. passes by, it is hardly likely that our
children will grow up to be brilliant scientists as our President aspires them to be.

The Delhi High court in an order had very strongly condemned a street being closed in
Delhi to accommodate a VIP entourage. In our case it is still worse that a school is
being closed for a full day because the authorities failed to plan the President's
route appropriately.

It is also a great inconvenience to the parents who have been just informed on the eve
about the school being closed and for those working parents would have to run around
making child care arrangements for the kids whose interests may have not been in mind
of the local authorities while planning President Kalam's itinerary, a President who
always has the children interest at heart.
