Let me try to understand what Gilbert is saying here. He appears to 
be saying that the real history behind the inquisition is something 
entirely different. The inquisition was not what people thought it 
was. It was merely a system of justice to prosecute people who had 
actually committed all sorts of crimes, and who would have been 
prosecuted today anyhow. In Dellon's case it could have been adultery 
on his part or petty jealousy on the Governor's part. Am I correct in 
this assessment?
