Dear Marlon, My sincere apologies for the typographical error in spelling the name of your Uncle "Gabe Manezes" as Gabe Manezer. You see I do understand your feelings, once again please excuse me for the same. As you have proudly mentioned that you come from the island of Divar and are direct descendents of Vasco Fernandes Cesar de Menezes, one of Goa's most famous viceroys. Well let me also introduce myself as Fatima D'mello from Vanxim,Ilhas, which is also an island close to Divar. I too have my relatives at Divar. Although I am from Vanxim, Ilhas, I have been born and brought up in Pune. I completed my education here in Pune and am working here itself. Yes I am married and so my surname has changed to Dias. My inlaws are from Quegdevelim, Reis Magos, Verem, Bardez, but they too are all in Pune. We do visit goa once a year during vacations. So Marlon the remark that you have made for just a silly typographical error "you Indian Goan Asian outsiders come to Goa and do not respect our Portuguese heritage. I think all Goans who do not have Portuguese blood in them should be made to pass a test for their goanness. I demand that the government of Goa conduct mass DNA testing to separate the phoney goans from the real goons. Furthermore, Mr. Das, the fact that you have "India" in your email suggests that you are a traitor to the pure Goanese cause. Well what difference does it make whether I have India or Goa in my email address. I do not believe in all this, I know I am a goan and that is it. See you too have spelt my name as "Das" instead of "Dias", but I do not mind. No man in perfect here, so please see that your doubts are clear. God bless you dear Marlon and do excuse me for all the misunderstanding that has taken place. Do convey my appologies to your Uncle "Gabe Menezes" also. Das, Not understanding a joke once is perhaps excusable. Not understanding it after repeated attempts at clarification is well ... a joke. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
