THIS IS from Jose F P Lourenco's *Amazing Goa* set of cards. Jose dipped into my home-collection of Goa-related books a bit, to scour for some "amazing" facts. Incidentally, my Goa-books collection used to be 600-strong, when I stopped counting about a decade back. But I know at least one Goanetter who has three times that size a collection. Guess who? Dunno if I'm allowed to spill the beans on this; we Goans can be notorious book-borrowers...
While on this note, I would like to encourage every reader to collect books on Goa. It not only builds our own awareness, helps us understand our home more deeper, but also helps to encourage the writer. While wishing my friend and ex-colleague Tony Martin well with his Goan international writers plan, one initiative could be to make Goa books available via networks like Project Gutenberg (http://gutenberg.net), thus making them available to posterity... In the last two months, we managed putting up two books there. Volunteers needed to identify interesting copyright-expired books, or even new titles, where the author is willing to also make the same available in public domain.
