Dear netters, While the traffic cops are going soft on the 'helmet rule', it was heartening to read that a young MLA from Margao was seen wearing a helmet while watching a bullfight at dawn in Benaulim recently. Can't put my finger on the archives, but I remember reading that Adv.Aires had once joined the BJP. This morning at a PMCA meeting on IFFI and the four-laning, Adv. Aires denied it and I tendered an apology if I had blundered. Had I really? It is possible. To me IFFI and four-laning of the Patto to Dona Paula road are two issues. I am in favour of the former. I do not see any reason why someone wants to go in a hurry to Mira-mar or Dona Paula.....unless s/he is on a day's holiday in Goa and is missing the sunset over the Arabian Sea! Any helmet rule for the tourists is converted into a 'hafta' [ you 'have to' give]as easily as banking is converted into 'hawala'. And politicians feed us on 'hawa'. 'Promises and pie crusts are meant to be broken.' That is ancient wisdom. We do not live forever,anyway. Viva Goa.
