Hi Mr. Carmo Santos, Life is a bridge. Cross over it, but build no house on it. This message, however, does not get to the politicians as well as community leaders.
Your views, like mine, as always, echoes what the hearts and minds of the common Goan would get across to the politicians and/or community leaders - be they contestants for the seats at the Indian Parliament, Goa State Assembly or even at the village/club level elections (in Goa as well as abroad). If the patient dies, the doctor has killed him, but if he gets well, the saints have saved him. Goans are into such a customary attitude, specially when it relates to elections/politics/community affairs! Carmo, how well you can summarize in a few lines the 'pre-requisites' for a would be 'representative' of the masses/community, is astonishingly true. On this holy Good Friday, let's pray that good graces be granted by the Lord Almighty to all those who seek to be leaders of the Goan community - at the regional, national or abroad. That they may fulfill the dreams and aspirations of the Goans and shun the evil! Let me quote from the Book of Proverbs: When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan (29:2). Oxench zaum. Zalear puro. Date: Fri, 9 Apr 2004 11:05:11 +0300 Dear Milton, To get a good public support one have to work hard from GRASS-ROOT level. Spend some money, spend some time with the public, your identity with the public, your social cause, your social work, Youth, Panchayat, Village clubs, schools leaders, church leaders. You have to be very friendly with all these people and associations. These can recognize one's identity in Goa. Should be in and out of Goa several times. Names should figure in the local media and national level. One should be very good having very good vision. No criminals, womanizers. Always should talk and work for the nation. And Nation is our very own PUBLIC. Here most of our new entrants or even the old politicians don't have time to think or even count all the above winning points. Oh yes, one should also have some funds to spend.
