An official source talking to The Navhind Times said: "Since the parliamentary election is on and as long the code of conduct is in force any decision will have to be deferred regarding the visit of the delegation to the French film festival."
"The festival is being held from May 12 to 22 and the Goan delegation is likely to do visit only during the second week of the festival," the source observed.
The decision regarding such a visit is taken by the ministry of information and broadcasting we will have to wait for the new government to take charge, he pointed out. The source also said: "Normally the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting leads the national level delegation and last year Ravi Shankar Prasad was the leader."
"However, this time, we will have to wait and see who the new IB Minister will be to lead the national delegation," the source said.
The source also stated that as far as the IFFI infrastructural work is concerned, currently the co-ordination activities for the same are being carried out. "Once the election code of conduct ceases to be in force, it would go full throttle," the source maintained, adding that the work is progressing as per the schedule. ---------------------------------------------- The Navhind Times 21/4/04 page 5 ---------------------------------------------- ======================================= GOA DESC RESOURCE CENTRE Documentation + Education + Solidarity 11 Liberty Apts., Feira Alta, Mapusa, Goa 403 507 Tel: 2252660 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] website: www.goadesc.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Working On Issues Of Development & Democracy =======================================
