Dear Goanetters.

This winters exposure of our St. Frances Xavier is an
important event for Catholics not only in Goa, but
also all over India.

I have discovered three web sites, which brings
valuable information about the state of affairs for
the Catholic Community in Goa and India.

http://www.iris-ribandar.com

This site should be visited by everyone who wants to
take a closer look at the latest events in Goa.

Hi "Maria": After noticing the Page 3, 5 cms x 2 cols advert in The Navhind Times, I guessed its contents and expected the dirty tricks department to get active.

It was quick in coming, through your innocuously titled above post.

You were pretty fast in 'discovering' the site mentioned above, and equally adept in camouflaging it as one of the "new Catholic web sites"!

It's a sad comment on how the whole Ribandar issue is being unfolded, by both sides. Clouds are sought to be cleared by sullying the reputation of the individual on the 'other side' (Aires, in this case).

Likewise, there seems to be little concern about the issue itself.

Anyone has the right to raise the issue about Aires' motives (if any) in raising this issue. But should "campaigning" stoop to such a level?

In Goa, many issues have been beaten down by such dirty tricks.

IMHO, it would also help if the Church got more pro-active in tackling such issues, rather than just waiting for it to blow up into something far bigger which it is then unable to confront.

On the other hand, I found it also distasteful for Aires to raise another charge in his latest post, that of the priest having demanded a donation from a third party. Is this a no-holds-barred Aires Rodrigues-versus-Fr Newton Rodrigues battle? Or is it an case of trying to get justice to the complainant and take steps against allegations of sexual misconduct by those in positions of (religious) authority?
