Hi Tony,
Thanks a million for your response. It was a great essay. Very
enlightening and useful both for the East African Goans to relive their
past as well as for today's Diaspora Goans to appreciate what past Goan
Diasporas have accomplished. 

It appears the secret to that Goan success (in the foreign land) was the
cohesiveness of the community and the desire and understanding of each
member to contribute to each other's success. Every Goan seems to have
felt they were leaving behind a legacy (for the next Goan) and that was
a moral incentive to be industrious. 

I would encourage other Goans to perhaps write essays like yours,
drawing on their experience of what has worked and what has not, to make
future Goan Diaspora communities vibrant and energetic.
