Although I still believe there are pockets of Catholic Goans espousing caste, these seem to be a minority especially overseas; where even if they put on the airs and graces the bottom line is that those in the professions or those in the money care tuppence for these poor souls. We are about to Celebrate 100 years of the Goan Institute in Nairobi. It would have been a real big Goan club had it not been for a minority forming their own club - based mainly on caste issues; i.e. the Goan Gymkhana in Nairobi. Most of these people I believe hailed from Saligao and the neighbouring villages. Even today, in my view these people carry themselves as though they are some how superior to the rest of us, irrespective of the jobs they do here in the U.K. Best regards to Fr Basilio. cheers, Gabe.
