Jayaram, Indo-Asian News Service The Hague, Nov 8 (IANS) The issue of dual nationality for overseas Indians will be decided soon, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said. Addressing members of the Indian diaspora at a reception organized by India's Ambassador Shyamala Cowsik here Sunday night, the prime minister, here to attend the India-European Union summit Monday, acknowledged that it had taken the government an unduly long time to carry out the promise made in this regard. "We are working hard to make good that promise," he said, adding that people of Indian origin in the Netherlands would also be eligible for dual nationality. He asked overseas Indians to take advantage of India's acknowledged leadership in the field of the knowledge industry and said Indian universities would be happy to offer all facilities to their children to pursue higher studies. He said the next Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (India Diaspora Day) conference would be held in Mumbai in January and urged Dutch citizens of Indian origin to participate in it in large numbers.
