Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has to be lauded for ensuring the completion of the Panjim – Old Goa bypass thus bringing the much-needed relief to the people of Ribandar and its neighborhood who for years patiently bore the brunt of heavy traffic on this accident prone stretch. The people of Ribandar are in particular indebted to PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar who personally monitored the completion of this project and kept to his promise earlier this year at a public function at Ribandar that the bye pass would be a reality by this year end. The Panjim-Old Goa bypass would not only be a relief to the residents of Ribandar, Chimbel and Sao Pedro but to the thousands of commuters and vehicles who were regularly caught in traffic jams on the Ribandar Road. With the narrow Ribandar road used as a National highway for decades the local people have had to endure hassles of round the clock heavy traffic but could now be assured of a good night’s sleep. Let us hope that with one of Ribandar’s big grievance resolved , Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar would now personally look into the other three long-standing demands of Ribandarires for a football ground, community hall and a 24-hour casualty health center.
