(GT) "ALEESHA" SCREENED AT IFFI: Aleesha, which created a record of sorts by becoming the first Konkani film to be screened at an International Film Festival of India deals with an environmental issue of mining and attempts to create social awareness about its hazards. Goa PCC President and former Chief Minister Luizinho Faleiro, who joined Congress spokesman Anand Sharma at his regular press briefing, said the party had submitted a memorandum to the State Governor listing the charges against the State Government. (GT) FATHER ARRESTED FOR RAPING DAUGHTER: A 42-year-old businessman from Pernem was arrested by the Pernem police in connection with raping his 16-year-old daughter at a lonely spot in Pernem on December 4 afternoon. (H) ASSEMBLY SEGMENTS: The NCP has urged that 23 assembly segments be carved out in North Goa and 17 in South Goa by considering the administrative aspect in a proposal to the Delimitation Commission. (NT) FRESH TENDERS FOR REMOVAL OF "RIVER PRINCESS": The department of Tourism is in the process of floating a fresh tender for removal of infamous MV River Princess which was grounded off Candolim beach on June 6, 2000. (H) BETUL FISH DRYING: The Betul villagers on Sunday decided not to allow any pick-up and trucks ferrying fish for drying on the Naquerim plateau.
