I personally do not see why journalists should be given any special 
treatment as compared with other professions.  After all they do get paid to 
do what they do.  Such things smacks of the establishment trying to buy-off 
the profession and become beholden to it.  It can reduce their 
effectiveness, and we know that in a democracy the journalists have an 
important role to play.
