GOAN GIRL FACES HARROWING ORDEAL: When 24-year-old Flory Nevidita D'Souza RE THE ABOVE SUBJECT
IS THE GOA GOVT GOING TO TAKE ANY ACTION??????????
RESPONSE: Forget about the Govt. of Goa taking action. First and foremost the Indian Embassy should lodge a complaint with the Kuwaitis. It is my experience, that the Indian Embassies in the Middle East countries are slow, if not down right uninterested in helping thier Citizens - especially the labourers and like. It is only when the stories appear in print, that suddenly, they wake up and take notice. Perhaps Goa's representatives in the Central Govt. should take up this matter with the appropriate authorities.
I saw a pregnant Indian woman being put on a plane by a Saudi sponsor - he gave her a couple of thousand Riyals. It dawned on me that the Saudi was using this woman for his own selfish desires. There are thousands of cases like this, which the Indian authorities ignore, to keep cordial relations with the Middle Eastern Countries. Many women are lured with promises of good pay - they end up as bonded serviles locked up and no chance of ever making it back India.
Cheers,
Gabe.
