Shri Manohar Parrikar,
Chief Minister of Goa,
Panaji-Goa.

Sir,

For the IFFI the 4-screen multiplex INOX was created. The auspicious inauguration of IFFI was with a rope malkhamb ballet by Isha Sherwani, one of the two lead actresses in the film KISNA. The multiplex, the actress, the malkhamb and the film therefore should not be objectionable in the State Government corridors of power.

I went with my family to see the very first show of KISNA at INOX with a view to show my children the beauty and the grace of the malkhamb. The entire film was so well done that anyone would be proud of the Indian traditions, karma and dharma depicted therein. It would be worthwhile if you and the Goa Government considered subsidizing the tickets for high school and higher secondary school students to view the film KISNA as done for 'Jaanta Raja'.

We know that you love to instil patriotism in the new generation. Let not the words/admonition of her father to Laxmi[potrayed by Isha in Kisna] " Muje laagta hai ki tere pyar mein dosh hai, itsha ka dosh."{ I feel that there is a shortcoming/ailment in your love, a shortcoming of desire.} ring true in the Government's love of patriotism.

May be even the members of the Scrutiny Committee and the Producer of the infamous VCD entitled 'Goa Freedom Struggle' would benefit from viewing the film and noting how history can be depicted with sensitivity and how the tradition of protecting the weak flows from the Gita, even if it means antagonizing an elder brother.

Yours sincerely,

Miguel Braganza
