(H) RANE IS COALITION CHOICE? Leader of Congress Legislature Party Pratapsing Rane is the most likely chief ministerial candidate of the Congress-led coalition in the event of it being called by the governor to form the next government. (H) 1998 HC JUDGEMENT: A Bombay High Court order rejecting Pratapsing Rane's petition challenging the then Governor JFR Jacob's decision to dismiss him in 1998, is being used as a tool to press for the dismissal of the Parrikar government by Governor Jamir. And this time, it is the same Pratapsing Rane, who is looking to being the beneficiary of a judgment that went against him in 1998. (GT) WHERE IS MATANHY SALDANHA? This has drawn strong reactions from the Bajrang Dal leader Pramod Mutalik who has vowed to retaliate by swarming the island with its volunteers. (H) POLARISATION OF THE ANTI-BJP FORCES: A politician takes decisions impulsively. A statesman uses his foresight. After so many traumatic developments, it is still incomprehensible why the Chief Minister of Goa, Mr Manohar Parrikar, is insisting on the technicalities like proving his majority in the assembly. He may score a moral victory but it would not change the unpalatable ground realities. He needs to think like a statesman, swallow the very bitter pill of Goan realpolitik and be prepared to sit in the opposition with dignity.
