By SAR News

KOLKATA, West Bengal (SAR NEWS): Over 460 Don Bosco alumni from Asia-Australia region will attend the Past Pupils' Congress scheduled to be held from February 3-7 at Don Bosco Park Circus, Kolkata.

Besides the members of the Alumni Association, the Vicar of the Salesian Superior General, Father Adriano Bregolin from Rome, along with his secretary, Father Saimy Ezhanikatt and Fr Joaquim D'Souza, the South Asia Regional Councillor, will attend the congress.

The founder president of the Salesian Psychologist Association of India, Dr Peter Lourdes SDB, will deliver the keynote address on the congress theme, 'Salesian education -- a celebration of holiness'.

"It looks as though it will be the biggest ever meeting of the past pupils held in the region," said the president of the Indian National Federation of the Don Bosco Past Pupils, Mr Rajesh Gupta. "Understandably a large number of them are from the Indian subcontinent," he added. The Alumni of the Salesian Sisters too will participate in the meet.

Mr Gupta said around 50 delegates would arrive from other parts of Asia, including two from Japan. Although there are many past pupils and many active local groups in Japan, so far they have not established an alumni federation, he said. "This congress will provide an opportunity for them to take the first steps in this direction," he explained.

The Indian association has over 32,000 registered alumni.

Salesian Father Louis Kumiluvelil, who is based in New Delhi, is the national delegate of the Indian Nationa lFederation of Don Bosco Past Pupils. (ENDS)
