Dear Gabriel,

MMR ought to have been given at about 15 months of age, with a repeat dose at age 5 years. (Allergies to gelatin & neomycin being a contraindication - allergy to eggs & chicken, a caution)

The vaccine should NOT be administered to females who are pregnant, likely to be pregnant or likely to get pregnant within 3 months after the immunization. Pregnancy should avoided for 3 months after MMR vaccination.

Rather than stipulating that MMR immunisation ought to be taken a few months before the marriage, I'd advise that MMR immunisation ought to have been completed by atleast a few months before uprotected sexual activity.

BTW: I had problems understanding the following from Afra Dias ( London)

<Thalasaemia is not a disease, it is an immune system>

good wishes

jc
