CLASHES AT SANVORDEM OVER SHARE OF MINING PIE: Ambeudok and Periudok near Sanvordem was tense on Thursday, after clashes between two rival over a mining contract left a trail of destruction -- including damage to two bars, an attack on a residence, and the ransacking of an telephone booth, besides the damage to four trucks. Several persons were injured and admitted to Hospicio(H) Gomantak Times described it as a "temple brawl". It said that trouble broke out over the issue of organising religious programmes at the Sai Baba temple. But police were also quoted as saying that there was some friction between the two groups over the contracts to transport iron ore. (GT) COUPLE MARKS WEDDING ANNIVERSARY WITH SUICIDE: Shravan S Gawas (36) and his wife Alka Gawas (25) committed suicide, on their first wedding anniversary, by electrocuting themselves through a fan regulator.
