Hello What a hue and cry by the so-called Freedom fighters, and what an issue. Was Dr. Wilfred Dsouza a freedom fighter? Well according to his interview, he took part in the freedom struggle of India, and not of Goa, but still, that does make him a freedom fighter, but can he be included as a freedom fighter of Goa?
What about the freedom fighters of Goa, are all who get the benefits really fought in the freedom struggle? What about the present freedom fighters who fought in the language struggle, cant they too be included as freedom fighters, who gave us the language Konkani as our mother tongue, and had it included as one of the language in the constitution? In my opinion, If Dr Wilfred Dsouza did take part in the freedom struggle, than, I dont think Dr Dayanand Rao, owes any apology to whosoever, on the other hand its our freedom fighters who owe an apology for all noise and protests. Why Goa Freedom Fighter Dr Wilfred de Sousa, should not be given the "Goa Freedom Fighter's pension?" _____________________________________________ I fought for freedom: Willy Navhind Times Staff Reporter Panaji, June 18: The Goa Revolution Day function in the city witnessed vehement protests from the gathering of freedom fighters, today, when the compere, Dr Dayanand Rao called the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Wilfred de Sousa on the stage to honour some of the participants in the Goas liberation movement, by addressing him as a freedom fighter.
