Eugene is obviously referring to Prof George Coelho. I remember meeting
him during the early days of the Internet in Goa, sometime in the late
'eighties. After a call from him -- guess because of my news summaries
and other involvement on Goanet -- we met up at his or his family's
place in Baga.

Prof George was a nice, polite person, with none of the arrogance that
educated Goans tend to sometimes have. He was most enthusiastic about
the possibility of a 'Goan renaissance', with all the new forms of
sharing information that were just coming on the scene.

When I think of his words and his enthusiasm, it strikes one that we
might never know how close to the goal we actually were... or how we
ruin things by getting caught up in non-issues, and probably not even
seeing the goalpost! FN

'golden ages' arise. FN
