RESPONSE: I shall further illuminate you; the vast majority of Goans
who moved from Kenya were not economic migrants. We all held British
passports, which granted us the inalienable right to entry. Many felt
insecure in the new climate of Independence and the reverse policies,
employed by the new Governments. These migrants, included many who
were wealthy businessmen and professionals.
Had it not been for the political change, I believe many would have
continued to remain in East Africa.

Many Goans, also migrate, not for economic reasons. Many Doctor's,
engineers etc move for better facilities and better to further
themselves with more insight and the scope to learn more. Many Goans
from the U.K. have moved to Portugal and/or Spain for the weather.

Quite a few are returning to Goa, not as economic migrants.
So you may be advised that every Goan is not an economic migrant!
Although you have confirmed that you are an economic migrant; as you
mentioned nothing to be ashamed of. Many if not all the Goans arriving
in Swindon Town, England via Portuguese passports are economic
migrants.

Cheers.
Gabe Menezes.
