Goenchem award ceremony

The 2004 Goenchem Prize for the promotion of public honesty,
rationality and common sense will be presented to Yadnehwar
Nigale at a public award ceremony at Hotel Mandovi on July 23
at 6pm.
Nigale will be honoured for his valiant efforts to eradicate harmful
superstitions and irrational practices that afflict our society. The
award ceremony will be followed by a discussion on
'Unscientific methods and practices - legitimate or not.'
'Prof Alito Siqueira of Goa University will be the chief guest
of the function. Adv Albertina Almeida and Gurunath Kelekar
will be the guests of honour. Margaret Mascarenhas will
moderate the discussion.
The Goenchem Prize is an annual award of Rs. 13,666 and
a citation plaque, given by the Goenchem Prize Cyber-Committee.
