25th July, 2005 PRESS RELEASE HEAVY RAINS IN KONKAN REGION NORMAL LIFE COMES TO STAND STILL ; TRAINS AFFECTED Due to heavy and incessant rains in Konkan region in last 24 hrs (more than 300 mm), normal life has come to a virtual stand still. This has affected train services in the area. Trains have been regulated due to : On Konkan Railway section : Soil slippage between Mangaon-Veer, Anjani and Chiplun stations, track flooding between Kolad-Mangaon , and between Khed-Diwankhavati stations. On Central Railway section : Track washout between Kasu and Nagothane stations and track sink between Apta-Jite stations. On South Western Railway : Landslide between Karanjol and Dudhsagar stations. The heavy rains have also affected road transportation on National Highway 17. Trains cancelled/diverted are as follows : 1) 2432 Rajdhani Exp diverted via Wadi, Guntakkal 2) 2618 Mangala Exp diverted 3) 2051/2052 Jan Shatabdi Exp cancelled 4) 0103/0104 Mandovi Exp cancelled 5) 2619 Matsyagandha Exp cancelled 6) 6345 Netravati exp diverted 7) KR6 Sawantwadi-Diva passenger train cancelled 8) KR3/4 Dadar-Ratnagiri-Dadar passenger train cancelled Restoration work is going on in full swing. ----------------
