Dear All, This Sunday the Vicar of Merces church made the announcement that there would be no blessing of the crop in Merces this year as there has been no cultivation of the rice crop in the communidades of Pequeno, Morombi O grande, Vaddi Merces etc.Instead there would be blessing of vegetables instead. Perhaps this reflects the official line of the Government -the promotion of horticulture.I am sure the situation is equally grim in the other villages of Goa. The sad fact is that our fields are being used as garbage dumps and are being converted for ??more remunerative non agricultural uses.
