Here is one such recipe that is one of my family favorites. Mackrel Tikshe (Sour mackerel) 4 large mackerels, cleaned and washed well, 10 red dried chilies, 2 tablespoons tamarind pulp, 12 flakes of garlic, crushed and chopped fine, 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger, salt to taste, 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil. Grind red chillies, ginger, garlic and tamarind pulp to a fine paste. Apply salt to the mackerels and keep aside to marinate. Heat oil and season with garlic paste. Add ground masala paste and fry for five minutes. Add marinated mackerel pieces and a little more salt if needed.
