On 20 September, 1945 at the fag end of the World War-II the statue of Abbe Faria was installed near the present day Secretariat. The families of the Dempo and Caculo are reported to have been the major sponsors of this installation. This year the CCP and the citizens of Panaji will commemorate the 60th anniversary of this event. A short documentary on the Abbe made by Ms.Isabel Santa Rita Vas [ of Mustard Seed Company fame] and Cecil Pinto will be screened at the event beginning 6 P.M. on Tuesday 20 Sept., 2005. All are invited.
Incidentally on 31 May, 2006 is a major land mark in the history of Abbe Faria. A petition is available online to get a postal stamp of Abbe while a SMS joke is doing the rounds about a postage featuring the one and only Mallika Sherawat.;-)) Viva Goa. Miguel
