A wiki (pronounced: weekee) is a web application that allows users to add content, as on an Internet forum, but also allows anyone to edit the content. The term Wiki also refers to the collaborative software used to create such a website. Like many simple concepts, "open editing" has some profound and subtle effects on Wiki usage. Allowing everyday users to create and edit any page in a Web site is exciting in that it encourages democratic use of the Web and promotes content composition by nontechnical users. The aim of the Goanet Wiki is to build an online encyclopedia on Goa. We'd like to request that you create a user account before editting information in the Wiki. We'd also like to request that you follow the basic rules that we use on the Goanet mailing lists. We'd like to encourage diplomatic exchange of information from anyone who wishes to participate. I'd like to stress that the Wiki is very easy to use. You don't have to be an advanced user to contribute. All you have to do is to use the content that is already as an example. I hope you will join in contributing to the Wiki. And, if you know of people who might be able to contribute, please tell them about the wiki.
