< As a non-Goan married to a Goan, I have to say that, IMHO, Goa is different from the rest of India in many ways. Sure, Gujurat is different from Srinigar and they're both different from Chennai, etc., but it is still true that Goa is different from the rest of India in more pronounced ways than the other places are different one from another. I don't see how one can posit that Goa is merely run-of-the-mill different, just like any other place in India is different from every other place. There is something uniquely different about Goa.>

Stating the obvious, and stating it very well indeed.

When I read what Fred wrote, I wondered IF Fred was in denial or in the land of make believe.

In a decade or so (earlier if this garbage situation continues), may be; but at this moment, "there indeed is something uniquely different about Goa".

As the good Alfredo de Mello would say: IF not for the Portuguese influence, Goa would be no different than Ratnagiri.

Well said Viviana, and Well said Mario Goveia
