This is in reply to what Godfrey Gonsalves - a Roman script Konkani avtivist
- has written on the above subect on 02.10.05.
A very powerful write-up Godfrey Gonsalves. The meet that was held on 14th
November 1985 was the biggest ever held in Goa and only for Konkani cause
such mammoth meetings can be held in Goa. To organise this meet Kuwait
Goans sent around eighty thousand rupees for KPA. Our Avertano Furtado
prior to this meeting was in Goa. As per the statement made by Mr. A.
Furtado,
KPA people came to him and asked for financial help to organise that
powerful meeting
in Goa to show the force behind Konkani. Mr. A. Furtado came back to Kuwait
and
disclosed this in a public meeting held in the reception of Kuwait Bishop
House and added that one of the Nagri stalwarts "told me that Avertano Bab,
this meeting
we are going to hold only by relying on Kuwaitkars money". We all joined
together, and accepting my proposal that every attendee should give at least
five hundred rupees, the fund collected to about eighty thousand rupees. It
was sent to KPA on behalf of Kuwait Goans and not on behalf of Avertano
Furtado. Our donations sent for Konkani cause many times was misued by the
recipients and when I questioned the expenditure of our donations some of
the KPA members showed their grudge against me. One of the reasons why our
hard earned money frittered away by the Konkani stalwarts was that they
simply used it reckelessly. It was openly disclosed in the media that one
well known Advocate who is a Nagrivadi and was a KPA member, was on KPA's
paylist of Rs. 1000/-. This money coming from where? From Kuwait also. If
what that Advocate from Margao received is true then this is a serious
matter. I dont know Konkani fighters, promoters and lovers accept money and
remuneration for the work they do for Konkani cause in the name of social
work. We earn here by working so hard, what money we sent for Konkani cause
is not only monetary donation but it contains our sweat and blood. About 5
lakhs of rupees were sent for Novem Goem Daily and finally where Novem Goem
gone
now? Shamelessly Novem Goem initiators and others are moving in society.
They are
murderer not only of NG but also of Konkani. I have all the letters and
correspondence of Novem Goem Prathisthan and those who were writing to me
complaining against each other.
Godfrey I fully support your campaign on Konkani and in favour of Roman
script. Patriarch Rahul Gonsalves should also be held responsible for
giving too
much of importance to "Ximbres" who are doing silent work to destroy
Christians in Goa.
Why all the Nagrivadis are silent now? What do they lose if Romi Konkani is
also brought on part with Nagri? Konkani is recognised not because of Rane
governement but because we fought for it, we suffered martyrdom, we mean we
Christians. No Nagrivadi suffered as we Romivadis
have suffered for Konkani. We should not sleep till victory is ours. The
Saraswats who are trying to destroy us will cut our throats by using the
hair of their harijan concubines because they are used to perform such
chickanery. To face them boldly we should be double clever.
