from Rupesh Samant in Panaji for Daijiworld News Network - Goa - Tuesday 8-45 pm Panaji, Oct 18: Commotion prevailed outside Goa legislative assembly Tuesday evening when BJP and Congress legislators clashed with each other. The legislators were attending a special programme organized on the occasion of President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam's visit to the state. President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam is seen addressing the Goa legislative assembly on Tuesday, October 18. Also seen in the pic are speaker Francisco Sardinha and governor S C Jamir ( Daijiworld exclusive pic by Rajtilak Naik, Panaji) The President of India was in the speaker's chamber when legislators were clashing with each other in the premises of legislative assembly. The commotion prevailed for almost ten minutes till police swung into action. The commotion started when Goa Pradesh Youth Congress president Girish Chodankar tried to stop BJP legislator Sadanand Shet Tanavade from leaving the assembly complex. Tanavade has been accused of forging the signature of former legislator Philip Nery Rodrigues. The district court had rejected anticipatory bail of Tanavade and police were on look-out for him. Tanavade on Tuesday participated in the assembly proceedings. The Congress legislators were demanding the arrest of Tanavade as after two days of disappearence he had suddenly surfaced in the house to attend the President's address. At a point of time BJP state president Rajendra Arlekar and Congress state president Ravi Naik had a verbal clash. The security around the complex was beefed up as President of India was present there. Later, the BJP legislators met President and informed him verbally about the clashes. . The BJP has filed a breach of previlege against Congress activists who created commotion at the complex. Leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar, speaking to the press, said that he himself was roughed up by the Congress activists.
