Goa holidaymakers still stranded at airport

BILLY BRIGGS
November 01 2005

MORE than 350 holidaymakers remained stranded at an airport yesterday
more than 36 hours after they were supposed to fly to Goa.
Monarch Airlines flight MON4502 was scheduled to leave from Manchester
on Saturday at 11.30pm but was delayed by technical problems.

Sheila Urquhart, an IT consultant from Linlithgow, West Lothian, said a
number of Scots had spent two nights in hotels and were still awaiting
new flight details.

She said: "We were told we would fly at noon today but are still
waiting."

A Monarch Airlines spokeswoman said unavoidable technical problems had
cause the delay. She added: "The 359 passengers booked to travel on the
flight have been provided with hotel accommodation at Manchester airport
as well as all meals and drinks, and are being looked after by Monarch
representatives."
