Goa: Congress Appeals to EC not to Delete Names of Voters on Jobs at Sea and Abroad from Daijiworld News Network's special correspondent in Panaji Panaji, Nov 4: Congress in Goa has appealed to the Election Commission of india not to delete names of people working abroad or on ships from the electoral rolls. The appeal came after fears were raised by people that the names of people working abroad or on ship might be deleted during the ongoing electoral revision. Member of Parliament Shantaram Naik on Thursday met electoral officer Rajiv Yaduvanshi, asking him to instruct the enumerators not to delete names from the roll. "Legally, there is protection for these people from being deleted from the roll,'' said Naik, who is a legal professional himself, during the press conference. Goa has around 10,000 to 15,000 people, either working abroad or employed on ships. The electoral revision which was taken up a couple of years ago had resulted in the deletion of their names from the voters' list.
