Verna cruised past Margao with an impressive 3 - 0 win in the Bahrain Goans Seven-A-Side Football league for Fr. Felicio Diniz Trophy at the Al Qadisiya grounds in Salmaniya. Margao goalkeeper denied several goal scoring opportunities of Verna in the first half. In the second half Verna scored through Joaquim Fernandes, Agnelo Misquita and Gabriel Felizardo. Meanwhile Chinchinim surprised second placed Canacona with a second half goal scored with a powerful grounder by Nazareth Gomes. In another match Tivim survived the Navelim scare until the halfway mark. In the second half unstoppable Navelim pumped in three goals through Godwin Pinto, Henry Fernandes and Melroy Rebello to take an unassailable lead at the top of the table. Vasco got back to their winning ways with a 2 - 1 victory over Benaulim. Richard DSouza scored two superb goals to put his team in contention for the second place in the league, while Eusebio Fernandes reduced the deficit from a spot kick. The league organised by Bahrain Goans under the patronage of Konkan Singers Club is co-sponsored by Alba, Union Press, and Gulf Computer Services.
